CHINA SOUTHERN AIRLINES LEAPS TO THE FIRST POSITION IN THE APAC REGIONAL LEADERBOARD

APAC Leaderboard Carriers Ascend as 8% Airlines Earn Safe Travel Score of 4.0 or Higher

May 24, 2021: Initiatives of 93 airlines in Asia Pacific (APAC) were assessed in April 2021 by Safe Travel Barometer. China’s China Southern Airlines and Air China achieved the highest Safe Travel Scores of 4.2 and 4.1, respectively, among full-service airlines. In the case of low-cost carriers (LCCs), Malaysia-based AirAsia led the baton with a Safe Travel Score of 4.0 in April 2021. A pioneer in the region, AirAsia excels across multiple initiatives attributed to COVID-19 Traveler Safety and Traveler Convenience sub-categories.

Compared to other regions, APAC has the highest share of airlines (8%) with a Safe Travel Score of 4.0 and above. Airlines which followed suit at 4.0 include Cathay Pacific, All Nippon Airways, Qantas Airways and Japan Airlines.
