Over 120 Airports Evaluated Across Asia Pacific by Safe Travel Barometer

MARCH 22, 2021: As the aviation industry braces itself for the years of recovery to achieve the pre-pandemic levels, there exists an immediate opportunity to develop a sustainable model and shape the future of aviation. Airports continue to evolve and invest in infrastructure, to ensure the well-being of their frontline and operational staff and towards passenger experience. Amid these changes, we are realizing transformational projects, including and not limited to contactless airport passenger experiences and the use of cameras and sensors to streamline crowd management across terminals.

China’s Beijing Capital International Airport achieved a Safe Travel Score of 4.4 out of 5, the highest in Asia Pacific (APAC) and also globally, based on the assessment done by Safe Travel Barometer in February 2021. Overall, publicly announced initiatives of 474 airports were assessed worldwide, of which 120 were based in APAC. The next to follow in line were Japan’s Haneda Airport, Singapore Changi Airport, and Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport all tied up at a Safe Travel Score of 4.3 each.
